FAIR HOUSING HELP

Any type of discrimination with housing is absolutely ILLEGAL.  If you suspect you are being discriminated against or are witnessing discrimination against another, we believe it is your duty to report it so it doesn’t happen to you or someone else again.  The question is, what are the steps to report?  Who do I report it to?  What are the ramifications?

As with most things, there are numerous resources available to help.  We’ll post a link at the bottom of the page but to get you started, we’ve put together a brief overview to get you started….

HUD’s Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) works to eliminate housing discrimination, promote economic opportunity, and achieve diverse, inclusive communities.  Some of FHEO’s activities include: Investigating fair housing complaints, Conducting compliance reviews, Ensuring civil rights in HUD programs, and Managing fair housing grants.  The Fair Housing Act prohibits this discrimination because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability.  Learn more about any one of these at this link!

So I think I am a victim of housing discrimination….what now?
